Rocky Mountaineer to Banff
– Life Time Experience of Canadian Rockies

Why Rocky Mountaineer Rail for Rocky Mountain Tours?

Rocky Mountaineer brings you unforgettable lifetime experience to Canadian Rockies.

In this trip, you will see lots fantastic scenery where you cannot reach by car or bus. You will go through areas that are not accessible in any other way such as through river canyons and alongside cascading waterfalls and winding rivers.

This train route was created over a century ago. The rail opens up the Canadian West, goes through some of the most rugged terrain in the world for train travel.

Rocky Mountaineer

Today, this historical route is recognized as one of the world’s classical journeys. It is blessed with the land of abundant wildlifemajestic snow-capped peaksglittering glacial lakes, roaring waterfalls and towering trees.

The focus of this Rocky Mountain rail tour is on the journeys rather than the destination. It is two days – all-daylight excursion which includes all on-board meals, ground transportation and overnight hotel. The service is very good.

If your destination is Banff National Park, I strongly recommend that you will take Kicking Horse Route start from Vancouver to Calgary, you get off at Banff. Going east the scenery constantly gets more impressive. You do not want to take the rail tours from Calgary to Banff as the trip is TOO short. The most beautiful scenery are between Vancouver to Banff.

Here is your trip:
Day 1 Vancouver – Kamloops

On the first day’s journey you will see the scenery change dramatically, from the green fields of the Fraser River valley, through forests and river canyons surrounded by mountain peaks, to the desert-like environment of the interior.

Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon, the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. The day comes to an end as the Rocky-Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into Kamloops.

Stay Overnight in Kamloops.

Day 2 Kamloops – Banff – Calgary

On the second day, your journey continues eastbound towards the Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see changing scenery as you travel across ranchlands, rocky lakeshores, over mountain passes, and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the deep rail history of the Canadian Rockies.

Highlights include Craigellachie, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and, the glistening glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

Your rail journey ends in the resort town of Banff – the heart of Banff National Park, or continues to Calgary.

By the way, don’t drink too much during day. You do not want to miss any incredible scene because you go to washroom too often. I am just kidding. But it is true.

If you are contemplating a trip on the Rocky Mountain rail tour – quit thinking about it and DO IT! because it sold out quick. The organization is as well run as anything I have seen and the equipment and scenery are first class. They call themselves the Most Spectacular Train Trip and IT IS.
